General Information
Oribi Estate is situated in a summer rainfall region (Oct – Apr), where the temperature ranges between 12˚c - 35˚c.
Best Hunting Periods
Best hunting times are the winter months (May – Sep). The temperature then ranges between
-4˚c - 18˚c. It is dry during these months, making shooting conditions better with shorter grass.
Suggested Clothing and Equipment
7 Day Safari
2 pairs of long trouser,
2 short sleeved shirts, 2 long sleeved shirts,
2 pairs of light cotton socks,
1 pair of ankle height walking boots (MUST be worn-in)
1 pair comfortable camp shoes and/or jogging shoes,
1 warm sweater, 1 wind-breaker type jacket, gloves, balaklava, scarf etc.
Comfortable clothing for relaxing around the fire
1 broad-brimmed or baseball type hat.

Rifle and / or bow

TheProfessional Hunters' Association of SA has a service helping to obtain a temporary import permit.
Calibers
∙243 and larger for small to medium game (springbok, duiker, blesbock, impala)
∙30 calibers and larger for medium to large game (eland, waterbuck, wildebeest)
The Hunt
We at Oribi Estate strongly enforce ethical hunting. Under no circumstances may there be any hunting from a vehicle. Most hunts are done with the "spot and stalk method": driving and once an animal has been spotted, the stalk begins.
